In the 43rd year of Ming dynasty Jiajing， You An square was built in the southwestern city of Beijing， taking the meaning of “peaceful and stable”. In the initial period after the founding of the new China， mayor Peng Zhen participated personally in the designing and building of Beijing second infection hospital. 首都医科大学附属北京佑安医院
昭示传染病防治巨大进步

建院52年来，医院病床数从最初的56张增加至750张；专业技术人员从246人增加至1020人，收治病种从以麻疹、水痘为主的小儿传染病到今天除结核以外的37种传染病及SARS、禽流感、甲型H1N1等新发突发传染病，历经传染性疾病的变迁，伴随着共和国的成长发展，佑安医院在应对突发公共卫生事件及传染病防控诊治能力和水平上得到了极大的发展。目前，已成为一家以感染和传染性疾病群体为服务对象，集预防、医疗、保健、康复为一体的大型综合性医学中心。佑安医院的发展史，昭示出新中国建国60周年来传染病防治事业的巨大进步。

1985年我国境内出现第一例艾滋病患者以来，佑安医院率先建立了艾滋病病房，收治了我国第一例艾滋病患者并创建关爱艾滋病患者及感染者的NGO组织——“爱心家园”，配备了业务精良具有奉献精神的医护人员，把治疗、护理、健康教育及行为和生活方式干预有机结合在一起的，适合国情新型医疗护理模式和病患信任关系。十余年来，共收治2000余例/次艾滋病住院患者，20000余例/次门诊艾滋病患者及感染者，为万例以上病患提供了心理支持服务。
2003年在抗击“非典”战役中，佑安医院以其有效应对、积极防控的实力，接收了北京市第一例非典患者，在106天的奋战中共收治非典患者195人，创造了最早收治病人；最早总结非典诊疗护理常规；最早利用中西医结合治疗SARS并总结出系列中药组方；最早进行CT科研攻关；最多开展非典尸检；最早规范出院标准；最早开展国际国内联合科研攻关，百余篇SARS论文在核心期刊发表，承担国家科技部973、863、国家自然基金等24项科研课题。成为北京市卫生系统唯一一家由全国非典型肺炎指挥部科技攻关组、北京市防治非典型肺炎联合工作小组授予的抗击非典科技攻关综合示范医院。
2009年4月以来，在应对全球甲型H1N1流感爆发及防控中，佑安医院以其完备的现代化信息网络设备平台、精湛的中西医结合防治技术及人文关怀为一体的防控突发公共卫生事件体系，为积极有效应对新发传染病在我国境内的蔓延及防治作出了巨大的贡献。
