英语系根据教育部有关高等教育的要求和外交部的指示，为国家外交、外事、经贸、金融、法律、教育等部门培养本科与研究生层次的既有从事实际工作能力又有进行调研和科研能力的高素质复合型专门英语人才；也配合我院国际交流中心培养外国留学生、研修生。课程设置包括旨在打下坚实基础的技能课程，提高语言水平的理论课程，以及各类专业课程和知识课程。

　　Department of English & International Studies

　　In compliance with the requirements of higher education as laid out by the Ministry of Education and the directives of the Foreign Ministry， the Department of English and International Studies undertakes to train young people of caliber to meet special needs demanded in sectors and fields relating to foreign services， business， law， education， etc.； it also trains international students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The curricula have been designed with the view of laying out a solid foundation for students with regard to courses of language skills， theoretically oriented language courses， courses of general knowledge as well as specialty courses. The students are expected to attain to the level whereat they will feel comfortable enough to quickly adapt themselves to the new working milieu， to enhance their professional competence and to successfully carry out the assignments entrusted to them.
