中国政法大学外国语学院是一所富有活力的年轻学院，它成立于 2002 年 6 月，其前身是1994 年 9 月成立的中国政法大学外语系。学院的历史可追溯到1952年，学校设立了外语组，至1979年成立了外语教研室，后随着法大办学规模的扩大，于1987年6月设立外语教学部， 1994年成立外语系，至2002年正式建成外国语学院。经过几代外语人的奋力拼搏，学院已实现了由单科外语专业向突出“外语+法律”特色，通用语种、非通用语种各学科协调发展的外国语学院的转变，是法大法律外语人才的培育基地，是提升法大国际化办学水平的重要生力军。

　　秉承“中外并蓄、德业兼修”的院训，坚守“开放办学、严谨治学”的办学理念，外国语学院以培养传承中西文化，语言基础扎实、知识结构完善、具有跨文化交流能力的“外语+法律”的复合型人才为育才目标。

　　学院目前下设的教学单位有：英语系、德语系和公共外语教学部。教授语种包括英语、德语、日语、俄语、法语、意大利语等。学院本科开设英语、德语两个专业。2005年，学院获英语语言文学硕士点授予权；英语专业实行五年双专业（英语、法学）学士学位培养模式；德语专业为推荐优秀本科生免试攻读法学硕士研究生的示范专业；而《大学英语》成为全国首批教改课程，所运用的基于网络环境下的全方位立体化教学模式提高了课程教学效率，促进了大学生英语学习自主性的发挥，丰富了教师教学科研成果。近年来学生在市级以上英语赛事中屡获佳绩。

　　学院的科研实力较强，设有大学英语研究中心和德国文化研究中心等学术研究机构，形成了较为完整并具有一定规模的外语学科科研体系。学院现有在编教师90人，教授8人，具有硕士以上学位教师占教师总数的86.7%。我院教师承担了一批国家级、部级、市级和学校资助的科研项目，出版了高质量的专著、译著、论文和教材。目前，我院教师承担的教学改革立项项目总和位列全校第一。

　　学院坚持发挥自身优势，广泛开展国际学术交流，先后与国内多所大学和教育机构建立了友好合作关系。定期邀请国内外知名大学的专家、教授来院讲学，开展学术研究。同时，还与国内高校、企业、出版社和律师事务所等单位合作，建立了学生实习基地。

　　学院的多媒体数字化语言实验室的软硬件系统居国内一流水平。学院网站集科研、教学和实用资源于一体，成为推动学院与国内外学术界广泛交流的多元平台。

　　 学院以教学为中心，广开办学渠道，高质量、全方位地培养了各类高级外语人才和其他专业人才，在开展教学科研、拓展专业方向、探索办学模式、培养学生规格、建设师资队伍、加强基础设施建设，以及扩大对外交流等方面，都取得了显著成绩。迄今，外国语学院培养的毕业生在外事、教育、法律、商务、贸易等领域深受社会好评和欢迎，为国家的经济建设、对外开放、国际交流、社会发展做出了积极贡献。

　　Introduction to School of Foreign Languages of CUPL

　　School of Foreign Languages of China University of Political Science and Law （CUPL） is a young and vibrant school. Founded in June 2002， its predecessor is the English Department of CUPL founded in September 1994. The origin of the school can be traced back to 1952 when the English teaching group was established， replaced by foreign language section in 1979， by foreign language teaching department in June 1987， and by foreign language department in June 1994， all the way leading to the official establishment of the School of Foreign Languages in 2002. Through the unremitting efforts of several generations， the school has achieved the significant transition from merely an English-teaching unit into a foreign language school with due features of “foreign languages plus law” and coordinated development between common languages and non-common languages and has grown into the incubator for talents mastering both law and foreign languages for the university and the important force for bringing CUPL more into the international context.

　　By carrying on the school motto of “valuing both the western and the Chinese and both morality and scholarship” and upholding the idea of “openness and high standards” to run the school， the School of Foreign Languages takes as its goal to nurture talents carrying forward Chinese and Western culture， with strong language skills， sound knowledge structure and cross-culture communication capability.

　　The school has under it： English department， German department and department of foreign language teaching， covering languages including English， German， Japanese， Russian， French and Italian. Now the school has two majors： English and German. In 2005， the school was accredited the right to conferring Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature. English majors can apply for five-year-study for B.A. with two majors （English and Law）； and outstanding German majors can be recommended for graduate study of law without examination； and College English has become one of the first courses under teaching reform in the nation and the applied all-directional teaching model based on network environment has improved teaching efficiency， played the initiatives of learners and enriched research findings of teachers. The best evidence is the numerous awards won by the students in English contests above city-level.

　　The school is very strong in scientific research and has a relatively complete research system of certain scale， underpinned by institutes like College English Research Center and German Culture Research Center， among others. The school now has 91 full-time teachers， among which 9 are professors and 87% have at least master’s degree. Our teachers have been in charge of or participated in a series of research projects funded by the nation， ministries， the city or the university and produced a lot of high-quality treatises， translations， papers and textbooks. At present， our school ranks the top in the university in terms of aggregate of teaching reform projects.

　　The school has always been playing its advantages in carrying out international academic exchanges and has established friendly cooperation with some domestic and foreign universities and educational institutions. We regularly invite experts and professors from home and abroad to lecture. What’s more， we have cooperated with some universities， enterprises， publishers and law firms to set up internship bases for the students.

　　The school has multi-media digital language laboratories that boast first-class software and hardware system in the country. The school website integrates research， teaching and practical resources and serves as a platform for promoting extensive exchanges with domestic and international academia.

　　The school centers around teaching and opens up all channels to train all kinds of high-quality professionals in language and other subjects and has scored remarkable achievements in teaching， research， expanding teaching fields， pioneering school-running models， fashioning students quality， building teachers team， strengthening infrastructure and expanding foreign exchanges. So far， graduates from the school of foreign languages have been well received in fields of work like foreign affairs， education， law， business and trade， making active contribution to the national economic construction， opening up， international exchanges and social development.
