刑事司法学院建于1989年，2011年4月，经上海市司法局批准，刑事司法系更名为刑事司法学院。现设监狱学、犯罪学、刑法学、警体四个教研室，在校本科生一千余人。现有本科专业为法学专业（刑事司法方向）、监狱学专业（包括四年制普通本科和两年制专升本）、监狱学专业（社区矫正方向）。学院在强调素质教育的同时加强专业实践训练，使学生既有扎实的法学理论基础，又有较系统的刑事司法和监狱学以及社区矫正方面等的专业知识。
刑事司法学院师资力量雄厚，现有专业教师22人，其中教授8人，副教授6人，具有博士学位的教师9人。闫立教授是国内知名学者，享受国务院特殊津贴，兼任中国犯罪学研究会副会长、中国犯罪学研究会预防犯罪专业委员会主任委员等职务。
近年来，刑事司法学院教学与科研并重，教师承担国家哲学社会科学基金项目、省部级项目以及其它重大课题10多项，出版专著31部，发表论文近220篇，获得多项国家级、省市级及其它各类奖项。
教学实践：重视教学科研与实践相结合，已与20多家司法单位协议共建实习基地，老师定期带学生赴基地实习。
对外交流：近年来，已有多名教师与国外高校进行学术交流，并与美国耶鲁大学和马里兰大学建立了交流与合作关系。
Established in 1989， the department currently has 3 teaching and research groups （Criminal Law， Criminology and Penology） and over 520 students. The undergraduate program is Criminal Law（students in the department matriculated ahead of schedule）.
Among the 21 faculty， 7 are professors， 6 associate professors， 10 doctorate degree holders or doctorate candidates.
Discipline and Curriculum Development： The department has established a complete academic system mainly composed of Criminal Law，Criminology and Penology.
Academic Exchange：Several teachers of the department visited and gave lectures to foreign higher learning institutions to carry out academic exchanges.The department has established intercollegiate relationship with Yale University and Maryland University in the United States.
