经济学院是天津商业大学最具实力的学院之一，前身是成立于1994年的贸易经济系，2001年在原贸易经济系、外语系的基础上组建经贸学院。2007年更名为经济学院，现有专职教师66人，在校生近2000名。现有经济学、国际经济与贸易、财政学和金融学4个本科专业，政治经济学、人口资源与环境经济学、产业经济学、国际贸易、区域经济学和金融学6个硕士研究生授权专业。
学院科研实力雄厚，近20项科研成果获省部级以上奖励，目前在研国家级项目5项，省部级项目11项，发展潜力巨大。
几年来，经济学院在校党委的指导、支持和关怀下，以天津商业大学办学指导思想为依据，以社会需求为导向，以“培养知识学习与实践能力并重、诚信做人与创新精神兼备的复合型适应型人才”为目标，全院师生员工努力创新教育体制、激活办学动力、提升综合能力，促使学院的各项工作取得了显著的进展和成效。自2001年学院成立至今，已为社会培养了大批优秀人才。目前，经贸学院正在朝向更高的标准努力奋斗！
In 2001， the School of Economics and International Business was established， originally as Department of International Business and Economics. As one of the most prestigious school in TUC， SEI has cultivated thousands of Economic talents from 2001. Presently， SEIB has 60 full-time teachers and nearly 2000 students， including 1，800 undergraduates and 83 master's degrees candidates. With strong support from the Party Committee of TUC， SEI is poised to become a national well-known school of economics in the 21st century.
