理学院的前身为基础部，组建于1978年。2001年相关教研室组（室）调整至其它院系后，基础部更名为基础科学系。2004年，在学校新一轮机构改革中，基础科学系更名为理学院。
学院下设基础数学教研室、应用数学教研室、大学物理教研室、基础化学教研室、应用化学教研室、理科基础实验教学中心（化学实验分中心、物理实验室、数学实验室）等机构。
学院承担全校本科数、理、化基础课教学及部分公共选修课和部分研究生教学任务。2000年开办应用化学专科专业，2003年起开办应用化学本科专业，同年招收少数民族预科班。
理学院现有在职教职工62名（教师54人），其中教授5人，副教授16人，讲师15人，助教18人，管理和教学辅助人员8人。已有5名教师获博士学位（8人在读），22名教师获硕士学位（15人在读），有硕士生导师4人。35岁以下教师34人（其中硕士以上16人），35岁以上教师20人（其中硕士以上11人）。教师来自全国10余所综合性大学或师范大学。
2003年～2007年我院教师主编国家级教材6部，副主编14部，参编18部；科研鉴定项目13项，其中省科技厅12项，省教育厅1项；共发表论文104篇，其中SCI 15篇，EI 1篇，国家核心期刊14篇；主持校级教学研究项目8项。获得省级教学成果二等奖1项，三等奖2项；校级教学成果一等奖5项，二等奖6项，三等奖8项。
2007年学院被学校评为“实验、实践教学管理先进集体”。教师获得各类省级荣誉称号2人次，校级表彰奖励16人次。
College of Natural Sciences
Introduction
College of Natural Sciences developed from Teaching and Research Division of Basic Subjects and was founded in 1978．In 2001．with the restructure of teaching departments，it was renamed Teaching and Research Department of Basic Subjects and again in 2004 College of Natural Sciences．
The College consists of Basic Mathematics Teaching & Research section，Applied Mathematics Teaching and Researching Section，Applied Chemistry Teaching and Researching Section and Teaching and Experiment Center for Basic Natural Sciences （It has three parts：namely，chemistry experiment and analysis Center，physics lab，mathematics lab．）．
The College is undertaking the teaching of mathematics，physics and chemistry and some optional courses for all undergraduate students and of some courses for master and doctoral participants．From 2000 on，it began to run three-year specialty in applied chemistry and in 2003 bachelor degree in the applied chemistry；in the same year it offered preparatory courses for minority students．
