甘肃农业大学工学院由原机电工程系（1958）和水利水电工程系（1976）于2003年整体合并组建，是目前全校本科教育规模最大的工科学院。学院有农业机械化及其自动化、机械设计制造及其自动化、农业电气化及其自动化、交通运输和农业水利工程、水利水电工程、土木工程、农业建筑环境与能源工程8个本科专业；下设农机与汽车工程、机电工程、水利水电工程、土木工程4个系和1个工程基础教学部；拥有机电工程实验教学中心所属5个实验功能室，水利与土木实验教学中心所属6个实验功能室和机械工程训练中心，校内外建有11个实践教学基地；设有甘肃农业大学节水农业工程技术研究中心和机电工程研究所。
2001年经国务院学位办批准农业机械化工程和农业水土工程两个学科专业具有硕士学位授予权，2005年农业工程一级学科（涵盖4个二级学科）具有硕士学位授予权，同年还获准农业推广硕士（农业机械化领域）专业学位授权，2006年农业工程一级学科为省级重点学科。同时我院3位博导承担作物栽培学与耕作学博士点——机械化耕作理论与技术方向、保护性耕作技术方向博士生培养；水土保持与荒漠化防治博士点——灌区荒漠化防治方向博士生培养。
学院现有教职工71人，其中教授11人、正高级工程师1人、副教授20人、高级工程师4人，有博士生导师3人，具有博士学位6人，在读博士13人，硕士学位以上的教师占50%以上；教师中享受政府特贴人员1人，省级跨世纪学科带头人1名，入选甘肃省“333”、“555”创新人才工程5名。多名教授在全国水利、机械等专业学会、学术团体和教育部、水利部教指委分别兼任理事、委员等职，分别在省工程咨询中心兼任专家委员会委员、在省水利学会、农机学会、常务理事等职，与国内外科研院所、高等院校有广泛联系与合作，参与《1＋2＋1中美人才培养计划》项目，多名中青年教师到美国、加拿大、日本、意大利、泰国、以色利、澳大利亚等国访问、研修和学术交流。
学院在校本科生1864人，全日制硕士研究生53人，推广硕士30人；毕业生一次性就业率连年接近90%，位居全校第一。60年来培养机电、水利与土木本科生及少量专科生4000余人，硕士研究生130多人，水利水电、农机成人教育学生3000多人，为全国输送了大批农业工程、水利工程、机械制造高级工程技术人才，不少毕业生成为知名企业家、专家、领导干部及业务骨干。
近十年先后承担国家“863计划”项目专题2项、教育部世行贷款项目1项，主持和参与省科技攻关、重大专项等科研项目70余项，获省部级科研成果奖10项，2003年以来获省教学成果一等奖1项，二等奖1项，厅级奖3项；申请国家发明专利2项、实用新型专利9项，国内外学术期刊发表论文360余篇，出版专著3部，主编教材4部，副主编及参编教材30余部。
在学校党委、行政的领导下，学院立足甘肃、面向干旱半干旱地区，突出农业院校工科专业特色和农业工程学科优势，实现规模、质量、结构、效益协调发展，更好地发挥教学、科研、社会服务三大功能，把学院建成与学校整体发展思路相协调、西部地区有重要影响的教学研究性学院。
Brief Introduction of College of Engineering
The college of engineering （CE）in Gansu agricultural university was founded in 2003 out of the merger of the former Department of mechanical and electrical engineering （founded in 1958）and the Department of water conservancy and hydropower engineering （founded in 1976），with the origins of the specialties or majors of Agricultural Mechanization and its Automation，Agricultural Water Conservancy Engineering，dated back to 1950s．Nowadays CE is the largest college in the undergraduate education of the whole university and has 8 undergraduate majors，which are Machine design and manufacturing and its automation，Agricultural mechanization and automation，Agricultural electrification and automation，Traffic and transportation，Agricultural water conservancy engineering，Water resource and hydropower engineering，Civil engineering etc．At present CE consists of 5 departments，3 experimental teaching center and 2 research institutes as follows．

In addition CE also has more than ten practical teaching bases in and out of the campus of university．
The college has 3 master programs，and 2 research directions of second-level doctorate programs in 2nd level disciplines．
In 2001 Agricultural mechanization engineering program and the agricultural water and soil engineering program was authorized the master's degree gift by the State Council academic degree specialized authorization．In 2005．the first level discipline -Agricultural Engineering，which includes four second-level disciplines，was granted the master's degree authorization．Also agricultural extension master （agricultural mechanization domain）was allowed the specialized degree authorization in the same year．In 2006 the first level discipline- agricultural engineering became the provincial level key program．
In 2008．the total number of staff in CE is 74 including 11 professors，1 senior engineer and 20 associated professors，and 6 have doctorate degree，and more than 50 percent of academic staff are holding master’s degrees．
